  • Parent Diversity Committee Book Club - Blood Sisters by Vanessa Lillie

    Dear MB Community,

We're thrilled to invite you to the upcoming PDC book club featuring author Vanessa Lillie, who will personally facilitate our discussion of her gripping novel, Blood Sisters, on Monday, May 4th, from 7:00-8:30 PM in the Jones Library.

    About the Book
Blood Sisters is a powerful thriller that weaves together themes of identity, belonging, and the search for truth. The novel follows Syd Walker, a successful archaeologist whose Cherokee heritage becomes central to unraveling a mystery when her sister goes missing. Through Syd's journey, Lillie explores profound questions about cultural identity, family bonds, and what it means to truly know where you come from. The story examines how our past shapes our present, the complexity of reclaiming Indigenous heritage, and the ways women support—and sometimes betray—one another across generations.

We're particularly excited about this book because significant portions of the story take place right here in Rhode Island, where our own community is rooted.

    Event Details
This is a rare opportunity to engage directly with an author about her work and to explore together the important questions her novel raises about identity, heritage, and home.

Copies of Blood Sisters are available at your local bookstore/library. A few copies of the book will be available on a first-come, first-served basis in the "Bird Room" next to the Main Entrance.

If you know of any new members in the MB community who might be interested, please pass along this invite—we’d love to have them join us. RSVP here.

We hope you'll join us for what promises to be a thought-provoking and memorable evening.
